Former Everton midfielder Izzy Christiansen told LiveScore that the Blues should look to the men's club legend for their upcoming vacancy. With current boss Emma Hayes departing at the end of the WSL season, there has been rapid discourse surrounding who will take over, with the England legend's name now entering the fray.

"He's somebody who knows the club inside out. From my experiences at Everton, listening to him speak, he's the right type of character. "His level of communication and knowledge of the game could be really effective and I think you've got someone well accustomed with what it means to be Chelsea.."
The ex-Toffee also added that she doesn't believe the appointment should be decided on gender, rather the right hire.
"There's no gain in Chelsea going, 'Right, let's pigeonhole this, it has to be a female'. "If they want to continue or attempt to continue the dominance they've had domestically, it has to be the correct appointment."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
NWSL side San Diego Wave saw boss Casey Stoney tipped for the job prior to the new year, but since, she's re-signed with the Wave on a new contract while snubbing the Blues. Now, with just four months to spare, there's been no definitive news on a frontrunner for the position.
Lampard has been out of work since taking over as caretaker for Chelsea last spring. Now, nearly one year on, he could return to the club that he became a legend at – but with the women, instead.
