Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi has suffered an injury scare on international duty with Japan, The Scottish Sun report.
The Lowdown: Furuhashi’s excellent start
Furuhashi, who Ange Postecoglou labelled ‘outstanding’, has made a brilliant start to life in Scotland following his £4.86m transfer from Vissel Kobe in the summer.
The 26-year-old can play anywhere across the front three and has scored seven goals and provided one assist in nine games.
He’s yet to miss a game following his debut against Hearts at the end of July, however, he could now be out of action after suffering an injury on international duty.
The Latest: Japan injury
Furuhashi won his seventh cap for Japan on Tuesday but had to make way shortly after the second half began.
The Scottish Sun report that the Celtic man went down under no challenge holding his right knee and limped off.
Their story on Wednesday morning claimed that he is now set to return to Scotland over the next 24 hours and will be assessed by Celtic.
The Verdict: Anxious wait
Furuhashi has been a shining light for Celtic this season, so if his injury is a serious one, it would be a big blow for the Hoops.
The Hoops have six games between now and the end of the month, two of which could be crucial in the Europa League group stage.
Postecoglou would want a full-strength squad for those fixtures, so there will be an anxious wait to see how severe Furuhashi’s issue is.
