Former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham believes that Harry Kane is the most-wanted man in football right now.
The 24-year-old’s stoke is continuing to rise following some show-stopping performances this season.
On Tuesday night, the England international scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 triumph over APOEL to give Spurs their second consecutive win in the Champions League following an earlier 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.
Not only has Kane scored six hat-tricks in 2017, in total he has netted 30 goals in 34 games in this calendar year, which is more than any other striker in English football.
The forward came through the Tottenham ranks in 2009 and after a handful of loan spells has gone from strength to strength, eventually becoming a crucial member of Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
Sheringham, who played for the North London club for seven years across two spells, believes that any top club in the world would want to sign Kane.
In an interview with talkSPORT, the 51-year-old said:
“I can’t speak highly enough of him. He just seems to be able to do everything on a football pitch, whether that be linking play up, scoring tap-ins, scoring Jimmy Greaves-style goals, scoring them from the edge of the box, smashing them like Alan Shearer, creating goals, holding the ball up, winning headers. There is nothing this boy can’t do.
“He is going from strength to strength and I think any club in the world would want him in their ranks. He could play for any club in the world. Everybody would want him. Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking across the waters thinking they could do with him in their ranks.”
